1998's key results for councils

How well are schools doing in your local education authority? The figures printed below show the proportion of pupils reaching expected levels of attainment for their age in each of the core subjects in last year's national curriculum tests. National averages (England only) are given at the bottom. The figures show that schools in most areas are still well short of the Government's target of 80 per cent of 11-year-olds (key stage 2) achieving level 4 in English and 75 per cent in maths, by 2002. No targets have been set for key stages 1 and 3.
