Harassed headteachers - and aspirants studying for the headship qualification - will be looking out for a management handbook to be published in November. Largely compiled by Ian Gilchrist, former head of education development in West Lothian, Greens Scottish Education Manual is intended to guide school managers through the legislative and regulatory maze.

The loose-leaf manual, which will be updated from time to time, will cost about Pounds 125.
