Acronym aid

29th November 2002 at 00:00
Busy school managers (BSMs) find themselves locked into a cycle of acronym abuse. As they grapple with the PLASC (Pupil Level Annual School Census), PANDA (Performance and Assessment) and LEAP (Local Education Authority Project for School Management Training), they may suddenly forget what the initials stand for.

But help is only a click away. A comprehensive list of education acronyms is on-line at: http:www.nfer.ac.ukemiepublicationsacronyms.asp With minimal effort the list could be typed into your word-processor's automatic text feature, so the next time you find yourself typing PICSI, a press of a key would put the full version on the page: Pre-Inspection Context and School Indicator.
