Action needed

What Works for Women has been launched by the Women's Sports Foundation to help increase physical activity among women and girls. The site includes a search engine where users can find sporting activities listed by barriers (reasons preventing them from taking part), target audience, activity type, theme (eg, coaching or participation) and service provider. There are also examples of initiatives that have proved successful in getting women and girls active which it is hoped will help sports trainers and teachers create new opportunities and improve existing schemes. There are details about how each of the initiatives have overcome barriers such as funding, and problems they are still facing.
