Action women

(Photograph) - You might think Dan Dare stories are just harmless fun - but a group of Brighton students has a big problem with traditional comic book heroes: most of them are male, as are their fans.

Now, the students, including Erin Flanagan (above), have placed a banana skin under the feet of the macho world of the cartoon strip with their own comic, aimed at women.

The foundation art students from City College Brighton and Hove have produced "Ace Comics". They will give 20,000 copies away in the city.
