The diary is impressed by Radio 4's new comedy series The Department, set in the world of think-tanks and policy wonkery. The first episode featured a TV recruitment ad the DfES might want to use instead of its rubbish "headless chicken" effort: "Can you withstand physical abuse and verbal sexual assault? Can you feed your family on a laughable wage? Please become a teacher. Please, please, please (sobbing)."
