Alberto Giacometti is without doubt one of the greatest and most important artists of the 20th century. He was born in Stampa in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, the son of a successful Post-Impressionist painter. He studied painting and sculpture before moving to Paris in 1922 where he lived and worked until his death
