Alien with a Big Heart

14th March 2008 at 00:00
An alien from outer space will help schoolchildren learn about the health of their hearts. The Big Heart Exploration sees "Dr A Leon" guide pupils aged seven to 11 through a CD-Rom of interactive games and quizzes to learn about the human heart, before taking the information back to his home planet.

The resource, from the British Heart Foundation, can be tailored to suit the Scottish curriculum - teachers download the relevant curriculum links.

The CD-Rom includes six games, a worksheet and practical activities, from helping pupils to measure their breathing to creating posters and a rap. It also contains a library with a mix of images and film footage of a real MRI scan.
