With an estimated 80,000 interactive whiteboards now in British schools, excitement at startling new educational possibilities is sometimes tinged with anxiety about software problems. There are dozens of different proprietary systems, many of which are not compatible with one another.

LessonplaniT from the Interactive Whiteboard Company is software that will operate any interactive whiteboard and a free copy is being sent to every school in the UK. It contains on-screen help and video tutorials and it is licensed for teachers' home PCs, so off-line lesson planning - from KS1 to KS4 - can make classroom uses more relevant and stimulating.
