Heard on the radio today we're on the verge of striking. Am I the only one who didn't know about this?

I heard it too! I would like to have been given a vote. Think the press have hijacked this one. No way can the union take industrial action without a ballot.

I think the EIS AGM has decided to ballot us on possible industrial action. The media has reported slightly wrong as usual.

Good! Where and when? Have never been on strike before. If the EIS don't vote for it, I'm verging on staging a one-person strike as I am so fizzing angry and concerned about what is going to happen to the kids having to get an education in an over-stretchedunderfunded system. Scotland was renowned for the quality of its education system, I don't even trust it to educate my children at the moment.

According to what I heard we are being balloted. Given the state of things in my authority I will, for the first time in a career of almost 30 years, be voting to strike. I work in additional support needs. Horrifyingly, support for learning teachers are becoming part of core staffing and ASN teachers are doing more and more SfL work. Consequently, many vulnerable children are being left unsupported and will more likely fail, and they wonder why more and more parents are opting for special ASN schools!!!!!

Have already heard headteachers speaking about getting rid of SfL completely, as it's a quick way to make a big budget cut. At this rate, SfL is going to disappear in schools, and many of the children who could have been helped over the barrier that was hindering them are just going to be lost. I'm worried sick about some of the children I teach, some of them NEED one-to-one and won't get it in the classroom. Without it, they get left behind.

Rumour has it that my authority are not funding staff to do the Certificte in Inclusive Practice this year. The state of education in this country is really getting to me. When do we get the ballot papers?
