Apprentices' minister

12th June 2009 at 01:00

Kevin Brennan, a former teacher, has been named as minister for apprenticeships in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. His post is a joint one with the Department for Children, Schools and Families, bringing apprenticeships under the aegis of the young people's ministry again.

The new department is an amalgam of the departments for innovation, universities and skills and for business, enterprise and regulatory reform and will be led by Lord Mandelson. Lord Young, the skills minister, remains in post, while Sion Simon, the FE minister, has moved to the culture ministry.
