A new initiative, designed to encourage new teachers to raise the profile of the arts in schools, has been launched this month. HEARTS will encourage teacher training institutions to highlight the importance of the arts so that all new teachers are able to incorporate an awareness of arts heritage into the daily curriculum. The initiative, supported by the Teacher Training Agency and the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts, also has a website offering ideas and resources:
