Assembly of the week

16th November 2012 at 00:00

End violence against women

TrueTube's assembly can be used to mark the United Nations' International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November).

The script tells the story of the Mirabal sisters from the Dominican Republic. One sister, Minerva, refused dictator Rafael Trujillo's sexual advances and all four sisters later became political activists, determined to bring down his government. Three of them were assassinated in 1960. The awareness day commemorates the anniversary of their deaths.

A film, domestic violence statistics and guidelines will help you to tackle the subject with sensitivity.
