Entries for the Scottish Schools Athletic Assocation's Primary Schools Road Relay Championships at Grangemouth on October 27 could be hit by the school break. For the first time, Fife schools are taking a fortnight's holiday, so the SSAA fears they are unlikely to be well represented.

Linda Trotter, secretary of the SSAA, says: "Schools won't be able to get in touch with pupils for a fortnight and that will make it difficult for those in Fife to enter the event. But we're still hopeful entries will be high from schools throughout Scotland."

Meanwhile, the SSAA is still having problems fixing a suitable date for next year's Secondary Schools Pentathlon and Relay Championships.
