Attractive allowances

EDUCATIONAL maintenance allowances have increased the number of young people in full-time education in Year 12 in pilot areas by 5.9 percentage points, compared to local-authority areas without allowances. The scheme will be available from September 2004 across the whole of England. A report on the quality of the scheme is due later this month.
