Attractive if you like poverty

You reported (TES, December 8) that Prime Minister Tony Blair planned "to make teaching the most attractive profession in the country". Mmmm...

The front page of the same edition reminded us that any pay rise was likely to be pegged to inflation. So let's ak the big question: What is the starting salary (and perhaps the salary at the five and 10-year points), that's going to get graduates (a finite group of people) to even consider joining the profession? Suggestions?
