Authors protest library closures

Campaigners have written to the Government about the closure of library services. The Campaign for the Book, organised by author and former teacher Alan Gibbons, has sent an open letter to culture ministers Jeremy Hunt and Ed Vaizey signed by hundreds of people. Christine Blower, general secretary of the NUT, has joined authors such as Philip Pullman and Carol Ann Duffy in the protest.
