Secondaries in England are being urged to register for the Booked Up scheme, which gives all Year 7 pupils a free book. Pupils in registered schools are all sent a Booked Up magazine when they arrive in September and can choose one of 12 books. They include Desirable by Frank Cottrell Boyce, An Urgent Message of Wowness by Karen McCombie and Underworld by Cathy MacPhail.
