Bear necessity

Believe it or not, Paddington Bear is 49 this year. Now he wants schools to celebrate his birthday by taking part in a Bring Your Bear party, organised by the Touching Tiny Lives campaign and supported by Zoe Ball, the former Radio 1 DJ.

Get your pupils to bring their teddy or favourite cuddly toy to class between June 25 and 29 in exchange for a pound;1 donation to Action Medical Research, a charity which helps sick and vulnerable babies. To register, call 01403 210 406 or visit
