The better man

I'm sure Mike Tomlinson brings many attributes to his role but the greatest must be the fact he isn't Chris Woodhead.

Despite the profession's gratitude for that, the answer to his question "Can OFSTED do more?" must be a loud "Yes".

Inspectors must be dealt with firmly when they offend. It's encouraging to read Mr Tomlinson's caim that overbearing inspectors have been de-registered. Why weren't they named and shamed? Visiting OFSTED's website there were many press releases along the lines of "LEA X lacks strategic direction", "Overbearing inspectors had to go" was nowhere to be seen.
