Bid to abolish private teams

Privatised teams of school inspectors should be abolished in Wales and more responsibility given to local education authorities, trade unionists were told this week. The National Union of Teachers Cymru raised the issue in a motion at the TUC Cymru conference in Llandudno. An Estyn spokesperson said there was no evidence to suggest any difference in the quality of inspections carried out by contracted teams as opposed to Her Majesty's inspectors.
