Boards will rake in retake fees

Around this time last year, a member of the Professional Association of Teachers suggested a conference motion along the lines that there is no such thing as failure, only deferred success; you may remember the mirth, and sometimes scorn, which this suggestion drew forth.

Reports on examination changes in The TES of June 9, together with your leader on the subject, tell us that students may have up to six re-sits.

Success deferred six times then? The prescience of that PAT member is truly remarkable!
