On a similar theme, Aberdeenshire's veritable beacon of light, Accent, the authority's in-house magazine, carries a fine heading that has set tongues wagging. "Directors head up professional bodies", promises an article about council chiefs who have gone on to the national scene.

Or, as one heidie put it: "Which director is it whose head is up whose body?"
