Falkirk College says it has become the largest provider of prisoner education in Scotland, after the award of a contract with the Scottish Prison Service to provide education in Saughton, Glenochil and Cornton Vale.

The business was previously held in controversial circumstances by Stoke-on-Trent College, which was forced to pull out for financial reasons.

Falkirk already manages the education units in Perth, Polmont, Friarton and Castle Huntly prisons. These contracts fund 20 full-time staff.
