The "imaginary lizard" writing task - said to be responsible for higher literacy Sats scores this year, and described by one head as "non-fiction creative writing" - was barmy ("Scores up but at what cost?", TES, July 14) .
Children had to make up a factual report about a fictional lizard, even though reports are supposed to be about writing facts, not making them up.
Do TES journalists invent reports?
It shows how low some people have sunk in their quest to make everyone pass Sats. "Non-fiction creative writing"? You couldn't make it up!
