BTEC degree joins Pearson empire

Vocational degrees are to be offered for the first time under plans announced by qualifications group Pearson. From 2012, a higher level BTEC will be available in business, engineering, ICT, and health and social care. The qualification will be available through FE colleges, but Pearson, which owns exam board Edexcel, is hoping to be given degree-awarding powers.
