Buckinghamshire - Speaker salutes student voice

12th March 2010 at 00:00

House of Commons speaker and local MP John Bercow gave the keynote address at a recent conference on student voice organised by young people in Buckinghamshire.

The conference was organised by pupils at Waddesdon CofE Secondary, John Colet School and Buckingham School. It was held at Horwood House, a conference centre near Milton Keynes, and was attended by around 90 students from six schools.

The aim of the conference was to give students the chance to swap ideas on how to improve their schools and to meet other young people. Another goal was to demonstrate that young people are eager and able to become involved in their education.

Faye Appleby, a member of the organising committee and student at Waddesdon, said: "John Bercow speaking is an amazing opportunity. It is an honour to have a well-known MP at the event." HW.
