The October Gallery educational charity in Old Gloucester Street, London WC1, holds eight shows of contemporary world art per year with accompanying schools' workshops. After the current Aboriginal art display ends on May 6, the exhibition "Red Wave: artists from Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Samoa" will run May 10 to June 17. Workshops will focus on the artists' use of recurring patterns and stylised use of natural forms to present mythical narrative. Children will create a puzzle using symbols, patterns, shapes and textures to tell a well-known story.

Travelling circus Until May 21
The Sharmanka Travelling Circus was founded in Russia in 1989 by sculptor-mechanic Eduard Bersudsky and theatre director Tatyana Jakovskaya (a sharmanka is a "hurdy gurdy" or barrel-organ). This free exhibition at Callendar House, Falkirk, features mysterious, darkly humorous kinetic sculptures of bears, birds, bell-ringers, monkeys, rats and elephants whirring, clicking and clanking into action to tell their story.
