Business - Cairngorms career path

Secondary pupils in the Cairngorms National Park area last week swapped the classroom for the boardroom to give them a taster about a career in business.

Organised by businessdynamics and supported financially by the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), the initiative gave Grantown Grammar's sixth-year pupils two days in a business conference setting.

More than 40 students took part in the "Business Awareness Programme" at a hotel in Grantown-on-Spey, with presentations covering a range of topics such as marketing, management, design and development, as well as practical exercises.

CNPA's convener, David Green, said: "Young people are very important to the future of the Cairngorms National Park. We can't have a vibrant place to live and work without them, so it's important that we make them aware of the many business career opportunities within the national park. Events such as this - letting them experience an actual business conference - are likely to make an impact on pupils and ultimately help them decide on their chosen career path."
