Business governors flood in

19th January 2001 at 00:00
An agency set up to recruit more governors from the business community to schools in inner cities exceeded its government-set target of finding 550 candidates by the end of last year. The School Governors One-Stop Shop, funded by the Department for Education and Employment, recruited 555 people for schools truggling to fill governor vacancies. The agency has now been asked to find another 1,200 recruits in the current year.
