Groundwork, an environmental partnership organisation active in 120 towns and cities, works with schools and local companies to take environmental education into the business world.

Its 3,500 projects per year include involving pupils in redesigning their school playground by surveying the site and making suggestions for the positioning of trees, ponds, play areas and paths. Groundwork also works with expert partner organisations such as Esso to help primary schools reduce the unsustainable and inefficient use of energy, and encourage children to look at a company's impact on the environment. Details: Groundwork National Office, 85-87 Cornwall Street, Birmingham B3 3BY. Tel: 0121 236 8565.
