Capital appointment

John Wise, former vice-principal of Stanmore College, has been appointed chief executive of a new organisation set up to promote the interests of local authorities in further education in London.

The Association of London Government education committee recently established the FE London Regional Services as a charitable company to promote strategic partnerships post-16 across Greater London.

Anniversary switch Cleveland Tertiary College is to be renamed Redcar and Cleveland College on August 1 - its 40th anniversary. The decison was made after a survey of more than 3,000 residents expressed the overwhelming view that both geographical areas in the catchment area should be reflected in the name.
