A Government consultation paper on teachers' professional development, published this month, outlines a national framework of standards for teachers to use as a guide.

Ministers will be consulting on professional bursaries and sabbaticals for teachers, and investing pound;6 million to support teacher research.

A consultation paper n supply teachers includes proposals for a quality mark scheme for supply agencies and distance learning packages.
