Careers - Rising star - Caroline Bean

13th November 2009 at 00:00

Where?

Garforth Green Lane Primary School in Leeds, where she is assistant headteacher.

Why?

Caroline has worked at Garforth for more than 20 years - almost her entire teaching career. The school now has 373 children and Caroline leads key stage 2, as well as heading up teaching and learning in the school and spearheading the Eco Schools Action team.

In her four years as part of the leadership team, she has been consistently motivated. Caroline always makes sure her pupils are at the centre of everything she does and is committed to helping them achieve their potential.

Caroline is held in high esteem by parents and colleagues. Her well-rounded personality and proactive approach means she gives parents confidence in every challenge she undertakes. Her pupils love being taught by her and thoroughly enjoy their lessons.

She has a fantastic understanding of the wider issues affecting the school and the children, and knows what the school needs to give its pupils in order to give them the best education possible.

Caroline is always at the forefront of everything in school and is integral to its success. She is not only a fantastic teacher but a great colleague and friend to staff.

Nominated by?

Tammie Prince, headteacher, who says: "Caroline has just started her NPQH and I know she has the drive and commitment to become a great head. She is so important to the running of the school and does so many things that we don't even realise. It would be wonderful to see Caroline running her own school one day, but we will miss her."

Thanks to the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children's Services for nominating this week's rising star. Send in your one to watch to features@tes.co.uk, including 300 words and a picture.
