Secondary heads have accused the Government of "spin" in its announcement of pound;50 million funding for specialist schools. Alasdair Coates, who chairs the Lancashire schools forum finance committee, said heads had to match that money by finding private sponsors to get their hands on the government contribution. Barry Burke, another Lancashire head, wrote to 700 local businesses before finding a sponsor from the south of England.
