New exams

Effinbankers: All subjects are up. Not very good, though. Keeping some of the Int 1 and 2 NABs and using relevant bits will be more appropriate.

absolutezero: After 10 years developing CfE, with emphasis on skills and contextualised learning, why does the new National 5 maths exam look very similar to the old Int 2 exam without the flexibility or reasoning of the Standard grade exam? Is this progress? I don't think so.

misterroy: The engineering science paper is not as good as present Standard grade exam. All the questions are very short, and jump from topic to topic, then back to the same topic in different questions.

halfajack: I've just looked at the N5 English papers. I'm concerned that the "critical reading" paper, section two, only has questions from one text from each genre. Am I missing something?

Cthulthu: They're exemplars. None of the texts referred to are set texts.

Packupyertroubl: Let's not forget the item writers were working with the constraints of never having taught the course. We're all on the same side. Let's work together in a professional manner.

learningoutcome: If a radical new paper was created it would have been criticised. If an old paper had been re-hashed it would have been criticised. If the models used in the past were used to create a paper it would be criticised. I can't see how they can win.
