Checking out added value

20th October 2000 at 01:00
pilot of value-added league-table results is to take place in secondary schools, but will be extended to primaries if successful.

The secondary tables will compare the test scores of 14-year-olds with pupls' key stage 2 test results.

If successful, the scheme will be introduced in 2002 and will reach primary schools in 2004, where the KS2 test results will be compared to KS1 test achievements.
