Cheesey facts

20th June 2003 at 01:00
With many food shops offering no more than four kinds of plastic cheddar, it's good to remember that Britain produces 400 varieties of cheese. The key stage 2 science pack Say Cheese is welcome for more than narrow curricular reasons. Investigations include children planning nourishing diets, bearing in mind factors like lactose intolerance or vegetarian scruples, or thinking positively about the need for calcium. For extra enjoyment, they can do blindfold tasting, mix cheese with fruit in palatable combinations and watch the effects of melting as a pizza is cooked. Say Cheese can be ordered by calling Esther Jones at Magenta Project Management.
