Childcare pledge

The British Government will pledge a commitment to the extension of childcare at the forthcoming United National World Conference on Women, in Beijing. Education minister Cheryl Gillan said the UK intends to boost the target for the Out of School Childcare Initiative by 15 per cent and review the gender equality strategy of the overseas aid programme and make aid work better for women.
