Children's book awards

Mara Bergman has won a Booktrust award for her pre-school picture book Oliver Who Travelled Far and Wide, about Oliver Donnington Rimington-Sneep, who cannot sleep without Ted and goes on an adventure to find him. The book was chosen for its remarkable creativity in words, design and illustration necessary to encourage children to read. The winner of the baby book award was Chick by Ed Vere and the winner of the best emerging illustrator was Box of Tricks by Katie Cleminson. The winners each got a cheque for #163;2,000.
