Chinese - Lead-up to language options

10th April 2009 at 01:00

Higher and Advanced Higher in Mandarin are to become available in schools next session, with the first certification in 2010.

The Scottish Qualifications Authority will host the launch in Glasgow in May, offering an opportunity for teachers, lecturers and the wider community to familiarise themselves with the units and courses at both levels.

The free event will include a variety of presentations and workshop sessions and will allow delegates to:

- become familiar with the structure of the new units and courses;

- get to know the assessment procedures and evidence requirements (specimen question papers and marking instructions will be presented);

- access the support available;

- interact with other professionals who teach Cantonese and Mandarin; and

- clarify issues.

Details and booking forms are available on the NQ Cantonese and Mandarin pages of the authority's website.
