Chris Hoy

Scottish Cycling hopes Chris Hoy's gold medal success at the Olympic Games will encourage more children to take up the sport.

On Hoy's return from Athens, cycling's governing body hosted six Go Ride sessions for children at Meadowbank, Edinburgh, Caird Park, Dundee and Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. They were put through skills tests on their bikes and received coaching from Scottish Cycling's development officer, Gary Willis.

It is expected the scheme will be rolled out to other venues throughout the country.
