Citizenship - Moray awards scheme

8th October 2010 at 01:00

Moray's young citizen award scheme is now open for entries.

The scheme is designed to recognise outstanding contributions to local andor overseas communities. There are awards for primary and secondary schools and for individuals, with any kind of positive community work considered, from voluntary work to showing a strong character in difficult times.

Pupils will receive certificates and badges and winning schools will receive funding which should be invested in further improvements to the school environment.

Headteachers can nominate their schools in writing, providing details of their citizenship achievements. They can nominate a pupil in the same way, with entry forms placed in schools for pupils to nominate each other for the individual award. They can also download an application form.

The closing date for nominations for the 2011 awards is February 4.
