A team from the University of Exeter's Graduate School of Education is giving teachers a new approach to the difficult subject of RE, by getting teachers and pupils to reflect on their beliefs and how these relate to their experiences of teaching and learning.
What is it?
The team has developed lesson plans around three key themes related to Easter: kingship, sacrifice and resurrection. The Ultimate Trading Game, for example, challenges pupils to make tough decisions about what they value most in their lives and what they would be prepared to sacrifice, from material goods such as their phone to their hearing or the happiness of their family.
The research team will be running workshops and professional development courses on this new way of teaching in the autumn. Visit http:elac.exeter.ac.ukreflect for more details.
