Glasgow University's principal has issued a warning that it may have to pull out of the Crichton campus in Dumfries.
Sir Muir Russell says the university is losing pound;800,000 a year from its involvement in the campus, which also has students from Bell College and the University of Paisley. Dumfries and Galloway College is due to relocate there next year in a pound;28 million investment programme by the Scottish Funding Council.
The university claims the council is providing funding for only 88 of its 230 students , which Sir Muir says is "unsustainable".
A spokesperson for the funding council said it would be developing a "route map" with the Crichton partners on the actions to be taken and hoped to announce details in the spring.
