General Sport Europe's biggest coaching conference, Coach 2001, will be at Glasgow's Moat House Hotel from October 20-21. Former athlete and Olympic silver medallist Roger Black, who is now a BBC sports commentator, will be one of the keynote speakers, and workshops will be taken by leading coaches from the United States, Sweden, Hungary and the Netherlands as well as the UK. These will cover talent identification, weight training for children and child protection.

A talk by Liz Scoular and Benny O'Brien, specifically aimed at schoolteachers, will be on Developing Girl-Friendly PE and School SportDeveloping Young Girls and Women as Leaders.

Attendance costs pound;150 for two days, pound;85 for one; application forms from Coach 2001, Sportscotland, Caledonia House, South Gyle, Edinburgh EH12 9DQ.
