College to the crease

Tower Hamlets College is to open a cricketing academy in the new year with the help of pound;1,500 from the Play Sport London initiative. The college plans to purchase kit and arrange weekly training sessions with qualified external coaches during the winter, before joining the Victoria Park Community Cricket League in the spring. Daniel Searle, sports co-ordinator at the college, said: "I know we have some good players who will only get better when given professional coaching."
