Columnist needs a history lesson

I AM bemused by the tasteless drivel written by your columnist Adrian Mourby and hope he does not teach history (TES, July 7).

What does it matter what the cast of the film Dambusters were humming? And they were his heroes?

The gallant aircrews of 617 Squadron, repeat 617, could not have hummed the theme tune of the film Damusters, composed long after they were killed in action.

Unless I am mistaken 613 Squadron mentioned was actually a fighter squadron. Is your contributor confused by the fictional 633 Squadron, also the subject of a film with tune to match?
