Come on the Tories

18th November 2005 at 00:00
The twin sons of former top Tory Brian Monteith are currently working their way through the youth ranks of Livingston Football Club. Both Callum and Duncan Monteith have bright prospects - not as right-wingers, but as centre half and goalie.

Both lads left Portobello High last summer with good Highers and are sampling life as aspiring professional footballers. Surely, it can't be long before they make the breakthrough to senior level where they can be cheered on passionately by one of Livvie's greatest supporters: season ticket-holder and Educational Institute of Scotland chief Ronnie Smith.

The cry of "bring on Monteith" from the general secretary of the largest teachers' union would be a prospect worth waiting for.
