Cough up, says miss in sickie case

A cautionary tale from the United States: don't discuss your sex life on a radio show after phoning in sick.

That was the mistake made by Marie Jarry when she and her husband featured on the Ugliest Guy, Hottest Wife contest organised by shock-jock Howard Stern.

Initially, it was a profitable experience for the Connecticut infant teacher, who won $5,000 (amp;#163;2,500). But the press got hold of the story, parents complained and Mrs Jarry was forced out of her job at Thalberg Elementary in Southington.

Mr Stern was also reportedly outraged - telling listeners that Mrs Jarry should not have had to go because she had not taken her clothes off or said anything controversial.

In fact, she did appear in a bikini - there are pictures on Mr Stern's website to prove it - and talked about her sex life.

But, according to school officials, neither offence was the reason for her departure. It was the sickie she pulled. Not convinced, Mrs Jarry is now suing the board of education, school officials and her union.
